Did you know moving more in general can do wonders for your health and weight loss goals?
For every TV episode you watch take a 5 - 10 minute walk. The problem we have is after work we come home, sit down for dinner and then put the telly on.... what do we do the rest of the night? Well we sit down.... Often we are not sitting well for our posture, this leads to back pain and glutes and hamstring weakness. Just getting up off the sofa and going for a short walk can make all the difference.
You know we had the FitBit craze right? Well it's actually not a bad thing, whether you use a fitbit or an alternative step tracker the purpose of them is to get you motivated to move more often, setting yourself daily goals to move 10,000 steps is a great start. Actually you do get a little bit competitive with it and you try to beat yourself and reach your goal, you can even compete against friends, what a great way to increase your activity levels!
If you are thinking, yeh but I already do that and you STILL want to increase your activity levels but not sure on what you should do there are lots of options. If you have kids, go take them to the park, be a kid yourself for half an hour, play on the swings with them, climb the ropes with them, slide down the chute with them, you will soon feel the effects of that activity! Do they have a trampoline in the back garden? I challenge you to spend 10 minutes just jumping on the trampoline with them.. again watch yourself get out of breath, or how about take them on a bike ride or hill climb? I highly recommend the trail up corrie fee, not too much of an incline and there are fun, informative posts with facts for the kids to get involved in! My two are 10 and 13 years old and they loved looking for the next fact! Now we are in warmer and drier weather there has never been a better time to get outdoors!

Maybe you don't have kids, or they are all grown up, you can still go for a bike ride or a hill walk, we sometimes forget what is around us and how challenging it can be for our bodies.
Of course there are always fitness facilities available, I would recommend checking out all that are available to you, see what they offer and how it ties in with you and your goals. If you are looking to lift some heavy awesome weights, well there's a good gym for that, if you want the best classes, offering you something completely different to the norm, well there's an awesome gym for that. But take the time to speak to the gym owners and tell them your goals, your likes and dislikes, you will soon figure out where you want to be, don't just join a gym because it's convenient, or cheaper, or the kids get lessons there etc etc..... because I guarantee you have no real desire, drive or motivation to go in there, you are only a "member" because it's convenient NOT because it makes you want to achieve your goals.
The biggest rule from this is to find something you ENJOY, if you find something you like to do it won't feel like a chore, it won't feel like "I am doing this to lose weight" etc and you will find it easier to create a routine around it! On the days you feel like you can't be bothered you will still pick your butt off the sofa and do it, because you love to do it!
Love your body enough to look after it
